Four year deal. Just in time to get everything ready for the Carr's Pastydrome.

Yep, about where I am.Athers wrote:While all points about Adidas & the money are correct it is also not necessary to 100% dismiss any form of romance/identity/whatever in this.
I did think that Reebok at least was a local sports company made good and it was more of a 'partnership' than having the ground named after a tin of bins invented in Germany, so it's OK to be sad that's where we're going (in four years maybe) imo.
I think it's shit, but I get why they've done it and don't see what choice they really had. F*ck me football's unromantic sometimes though.
I know it is a brand name, but I never thought of the Bok in the same ridiculous vein as, say, the KitKat Crescent. Chorley's at one point was The Chorley Nissan Victory Park Stadium which is stupid, ugly, and just confusing.
I'm sad, rather than angry.

Re: The Macron Stadium
Now that Reebok are no longer paying us money to sponsor the stadium, it would not make any sense to keep the name. A change was going to happen anyway so at least it stops people suggesting, commenting on and voting on a different title. If we are getting paid a few million pounds for the Macron Stadium, then that is fine with me.

Will Lofty be replaced by Ronald Macdonald?

Re: The Macron Stadium
I'd be interested to know how much they were actually paying us. It's alright saying 'football is a business', but people were using that as justification to having a payday loan firm on our shirts who were paying practically nothing.
If it's something significant, then fine. It's a sad sign of the times though. Dread to think who'll be along to sponsor us next.

Re: The Macron Stadium
I believe the amount we are receiving from Macron, is less than the £400k PA that Derby are getting from iPro..
So, let's say £350,000 per season. That's the cost of a reserve player that we seem to spunk money on each year without ever using, not even including the wages!
I'd rather not waste that money on shit, and have a stadium name we can be proud of

Re: The Macron Stadium
Gartside's been quite open about the fact that the stadium's naming rights would go to the highest bidder as soon as the Reebok deal ran out. Without knowing any of the precise details we've clearly struck a structured deal with Macron involving both the naming of the stadium and sales of replica kits similar to that struck with Reebok initially. The stadium was always going to have a name change, live with it, and I don't see many blue chip organisations that even have hoardings around the pitch now, let alone backing us to this extent. Well done to all involved in this deal, I say.Tombwfc wrote:I'd be interested to know how much they were actually paying us. Like what exactly? Show me these blue chip organisations that are queuing up, top dollar in hand to have their elite brand associated with a declining mid championship club in Lancashire?boltonboris wrote: I'd rather not waste that money on shit, and have a stadium name we can be proud of

Did he say it on a "lighthearted radio show"?
If so, I would take it with a pinch of salt..

Re: The Macron Stadium
Reminds me of Makro cash and carry. Which means nothing, but there you go.
I suspect the "renaming rights" to a stadium will always be sold for less than the naming rights, since (as others have mentioned) they tend to be referred to by their previous names anyway. I'd be interested to see some data either way. But not interested enough to go looking for any.
Ah, the indolence of today's youth.
Yes, I am referring to myself as youth. Fxck you.

Re: The Macron Stadium
What question? The one where you want me to name a fvckin' stadium?!
Quite surprised somebody who seems as intelligent (albeit, a bit eggy) seems to think that Macron are a "blue chip organisations that are queuing up, top dollar in hand to have their elite brand associated" with us... They're neither

Re: The Macron Stadium
I assume, Bruce, from the first part of his post, that he doesn't want it sponsored by any blue-chip company, and would rather not have the cash and call it "New Burnden" or "The Nat Lofthouse Stadium" or something.Bruce Rioja wrote:It has everything to do with it.boltonboris wrote:That has nothing to do with anything that I've said..Bruce Rioja wrote:Like what exactly? Which is nice and idealistic, but probably unrealistic.
