There's some interesting politics in the background of this story. Last year, the gov't created Commissioning Support Units to help the new clinical commissioning groups buy appropriate services.

They have been a huge failure as their services and expertise were so poor, no one has wanted to use their services. They have now been forced to become social enterprise companies and generate their own income. How better to do this than charge huge consultancy fees to private sector health care companies and ongoing management charges to sustain themselves. This is the thin end of a health insurance wedge.

I wouldn't worry too much, yet.
No one would get elected to government on the basis it was going to place direct charges on the patients for treatment.
Now once we are deeper in the Republic of Europe, where charging is common and the UK is merely allowed, like all the other ex states, to elect a grand version of a local council, then you need worry.

Crept up on me. I figured I'd tweaked it in my sleep or something and then it got worse whilst out walking. Definitely worse than I first thought. I'm a typical bloke and only visit a doctor when I really really have to.
