Crossed my mind too. Still, I wouldn't mind replacing him with that young shaver from Man U.Gary the Enfield wrote:So we've let Lonergan go without knowing whether Bogdan is staying?

Glad to see that Quade Taylor's signed a one year extension to his contract, although I've no idea as to when his existing deal runs to. Was really impressed with him in the Brum game.

Re: Contracts: the summer juggle
That's because Diggie gave him a 3 year contract and I doubt we're in a position to pay it off to release him. Same with Dervitte & Moxey. Freedman's standard 3 Year Deal for anyone coming in on a Bosman.thebish wrote:also - no official mention of Trotter leaving in that list....
Won't lose sleep over any of those players leaving. Shame for Craig Davies as on his day he can be a handful, but those days are too few and far between for it to be considered a long-term plan. Mills was offered a contract, no? If so he can get to feck and go where the money is greener.
Pray for Bogdan.

aye... which is why some were surprised when it was reported on here that Lennon had told a fan that Trotter was "already gone."

Do you think Spearing had an attitude problem?
Personally, I've always liked Spearing and I think a combative midfield duo of Spearing and Vela could work well next season, allowing Mavies or Clough - or even Pratley - to get forward and hurt the opposition.

Re: Contracts: the summer juggle
No argument from me on Mills, Beckford and Andrews. Cravies decision makes sense considering we've got Clough, we want to resign the two OAPs and are clearly chasing AN Other. Lonners is unlucky but understandable. Shame some of the kids didn't make it - notably Lester, Iliev and Woodland – but we have to presume the decision was footballing rather than financial and that the Development heads know what they're doing.Bruce Rioja wrote:From Th'Offish.
Matt Mills, Craig Davies, Andrew Lonergan, Jermaine Beckford and Keith Andrews will officially depart Macron Stadium at the end of June, whilst Chris Lester, Georg Iliev, Luke Woodland, Glenn Matthews, Ryan Sellers, James Ball, Carl Kennedy and Kieran Nolan will also leave.
Andrews is talking about coaching at MK Dons. Helping out Karl Robinson with his greater experience, arf.Prufrock wrote:Andrews and Mills presumably hoping Owen Coyle's got a generous chairman.
Janko's loan's up this summer. We've been strongly linked with Rotherham's centre-back skipper, whose name I forget and can't be arsed looking up (see the BN passim).thebish wrote:so - without additions - we're still building our defense around Ream, Dervite, Moxey, Wheater... and then Taylor and Threlkeld have shiny new contracts... and there's Hayden White... given that Lennon says he will spend most of what he has to spend prioritising a 20-goal a season striker - we might need some decent freebie/loan reinforcement there... edit: oh - yeah - and Janko!
He's not out of contract. This is the official announcement of the players we intend to retain (offer new contracts to) and those we don't, in accordance with the rule rejig kicked off by George Eastham in 1961. Getting rid of those who are contractually bound to the club will take more time (and a lot more money).thebish wrote:also - no official mention of Trotter leaving in that list....
Dougie gave him a one-year contract last summer, so he needed renewing or releasing.Bruce Rioja wrote:Glad to see that Quade Taylor's signed a one year extension to his contract, although I've no idea as to when his existing deal runs to. Was really impressed with him in the Brum game.
There's a lot of it about these days. It will be interesting to see how (or whether) Lennon tries to utilise Spearing, who must now be on one of the biggest contracts at the club (pending Bogdan).throwawayboltonian wrote:I'm hoping that Lennon will sit down with him and sort his attitude out, or decide to move him on for a fee. There's a good player in him, at this level at least, as we saw in his initial loan. I'm also hoping that Baptiste will come in to replace Mills at centre half, but he seems quite set on leaving.Jugs wrote:I wonder what will happen to Spearing.
As a side note how many players have we signed with an attitude problem and lack of commitment recently? Sordell, Hall, Mills, Spearing to name a few? Worrying trend.
Re: Contracts: the summer juggle
That Rotherham centre-half you refer to is Craig Morgan. I must admit, I'd never even heard of him until recently.

Re: Contracts: the summer juggle
From Bolton News:
"WANDERERS have announced that 13 players will be released this summer – including club skipper Matt Mills, striker Craig Davies and goalkeeper Andy Lonergan.
Neil Lennon has cleared the decks, starting with the man who wore the captain’s armband for most of last season.
Mills made 97 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals, and is wanted by Nottingham Forest and Fulham.
Lonergan was also regarded as Lennon’s number one for the majority of last term, making 32 appearances.
And Davies – who was the club’s second top-scorer last season with six goals – is another surprising name on the list, his release no doubt triggered by injury problems suffered in the last few months.
Higher earners Jermaine Beckford and Keith Andrews were released as expected but the exit of a handful of young players also came out of the blue.
Chris Lester, Luke Woodland and Georg Iliev had experience of senior football.
Glenn Matthews, Ryan Sellers, James Ball, Carl Kennedy and Keiran Nolan have also left the club.
Wanderers have confirmed that Darren Pratley, Adam Bogdan, Eidur Gudjohnsen and Emile Heskey are in contract talks, while Quade Taylor has signed an extension to his professional contract."

Re: Contracts: the summer juggle
Think the most concerning thing about things at the moment is the apparent disconnect between lennon and club statements/ actions.
Thought Lennon had said Mills had been offered a new contract. Mills apprently said he hadn't and a couple of weeks later he's on his way. Now whether he had but rejected out of hand - who knows. Suppose NL did say he wouldn't wait around
Lennon says we are in takeover talks and within a day or so the club say we aren't.
Well aware situations and opinions change but don't think these kind of things are a good sign.
Oh and wtf as regards Heskey - I hope he's cheap

Surprised about Lonergan. He must have another lined up. Mills is clearly not showing any interest in signing.

Shame for Iliev. I thought he had something.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

key fact: Trotter HASN'T already gone!

Re: Contracts: the summer juggle
I wonder what will happen with Medo? Another decent player on our books, but couldn't play in same team as Spearing as too similar and Lennon sorted out the loan to Maccabi pretty quickly...
We could potentially sell for a decent amount, or look to keep him if we're offloading the real dreck like Trotter etc.

blimey - yes - he's still under contract until the end of next season isn't he.... totally forgot he's still ours!danardif1 wrote:I wonder what will happen with Medo? (according to wiki - he's made no appearances at all for maccabi Haifa since we loaned him... what gives?)
edit - which is clearly bollox as there is this report on the BBC..
Medo Kamara scored his first goal since joining Israeli side Maccabi Haifa on loan on Saturday.
The Sierra Leone international, who was also booked shortly before half-time, scored his temporary side's third goal in the 55th minute as they recorded a 5-0 victory at home to Ashdod.
