It’s been a bug-bear of mine since Derby. Madine is one to dwell on his mis-fortune in front of goal – and he gets down on his luck when the ball is still in play. Against Brighton, that chance he hit with his left peg (highlights about 2:20 in) which the keeper saves – he’s still on his knees, cursing his rotten luck, while Clayton is heading the ball back into the danger area. Trouble is Madine’s not dangerous if he’s sat on the ground thinking ‘woe is me’.

I’m pleased he got his goal and the manner of it will come as a huge relief to all (notably Lennon who has backed him since day one), but this is one thing that needs ironing out. Never give up on anything until the ball is dead or the whistle is blown.

On the subject of Madine, there's a stat on twitter, and I admit that I can't be certain of it's validity (perhaps DSB could confirm?), which says that on average he wins more aerial duels per game than any other player in the league.

That doesn't help with our goalscoring problems, but it does tell us that he might not be absolutely useless.

On the subject of Madine, there's a stat on twitter, and I admit that I can't be certain of it's validity (perhaps DSB could confirm?), which says that on average he wins more aerial duels per game than any other player in the league.

That doesn't help with our goalscoring problems, but it does tell us that he might not be absolutely useless.

I'd like to know who is the arbiter of what an aerial duel constitutes and who judges who wins it and on what grounds and whether there is an aerial ombudsman for the extreme cases...

On another note, the division's top two for passing accuracy (with 90.0%) are Mark Davies and Joe Mason; Danns is ninth on 88.6%. Prince is top for interceptions (4.4 per game) with Dervite ninth on 3.4.

Aye not in the "this is a terrible mistake" way, just that I think he offered something to us with his running the channels and all. Would have liked to see him a bit more under Lennon but as you say it meant we could get ALF.

Could be that, could be just wanting to clear the decks (did *any* Freedman loanee stay?), could be wanting to get his own men in. As you say, it's not a biggie in the list of might-have-beens.
