Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Fastest a test side has ever scored 500. Not exactly surprising this is an innings you won’t see often.
What a position to be in. Bet Stokes and Mccullum are wishing they’d picked the extra bowler now though.
England can bat till lunch day two and this rate be over 650. And frankly given the pitch there is no real reason to declare because your only hope of winning is batting once I suspect and hoping the pitch turns a bit day 4 and 5.
Whatever Brendan Mccullum has done to this team the man deserves knighting. Never seen a turnaround like this.
Brook looked absolutely assured getting his 100 too and in normal circumstances he’d not be picked. Suddenly gone from a side who you could hardly name a test level batsman for to a side that has too many options to choose from.

All comparative - with England's batting, you're often looking back to the 1930's or the 1890's!Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 1:20 pm2007? As to the 4 hundreds v West Indies in 2007, they actually had us at 83-2 at one point, Cook scored 100 at no2, then 5,6 & 7 all scored tons (Collingwood, Bell, Prior)

I’m wondering if any side has ever had 4 centurions in a single day?Worthy4England wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 1:48 pmAll comparative - with England's batting, you're often looking back to the 1930's or the 1890's!Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 1:20 pm2007? Dunno mate - I suspect there's a lot more stats to come from today's performance in the next couple of days...

181 for 0 in reply - still a long way off, but maybe giving the wicket some context...

Well, I was quite surprised to see that at yesterday's close, that those you know far more about it than me were predicting something like a 43% chance of it ending in a draw.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Fri Dec 02, 2022 4:42 pm181 for 0 in reply - still a long way off, but maybe giving the wicket some context...

Think it might be hinted at as a batters wicket...somehow? We could do with a break-through though.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Fri Dec 02, 2022 4:42 pm181 for 0 in reply - still a long way off, but maybe giving the wicket some context...

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Yeah - although we got there quite a lot quicker, there's actually 1 run difference between the scores when the 4th wicket went down - we were 462, they were 413. In fact if you look wicket for wicket so far, they're pretty closely matched...
1st Eng 233, Pak 225
2nd Eng 235, Pak 245
3rd Eng 286, Pak 290
4th Eng 462, Pak 413
Guess it's just whether we could polish the tail from here...
Edited: I updated the 4th innings...

Could they manage the first innings total record? (not looked what it is)

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
On the first innings aggregate, Sri Lanka hit something like 950 in response to India's 580 in the 90's so I think they'd need 800 or so...not sure if there's a higher first innings aggregate....

Pakistan score 579...but it isn't enough...We're 185-3 second innings and looking pretty good...

We're going to lose this
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.
